Your nickname and age:

Like Linda: My nickname is Like Linda,  age 38.
Cher: Cher Macabre, 31 years old.
Eleo: Eleo Cosplay and…. *coff*… 39.

How did you discover cosplay and what made you start this hobby? How long ago?

L: I discovered cosplay in 2008, during a research while I was preparing my clothes for a show. It was the year-end event of the fashion school I was attending. I immediately loved cosplay, for all the creativity that has added to my work.
C: I really love Japanese culture and I discovered the world of cosplay through mangas. In 2009, a friend asked me to be part of a group based on the MMORPG Ragnarok and from there, began my adventure.
K5: I’ve been cosplaying for around 3 years. Jigsawphia introduced me to cosplay shortly after I met her, after one year following her to conventions and seeing her taking part in contests I decided to give it a shot. I was hooked instantly coming back from stage and kept going until now.

What was the reason behind your costume choice for the ICL preselection? Is this your first time joining an international cosplay competition?

L: The ICL is the only international selection I have attended. I also participated last year, earning a mention -finally this year I managed to pass the selection! I chose Aloy, because I really enjoyed the videogame and I loved her as a character, and also the different techniques of the costume which I wanted to try.
C: It’s the first time joining an international competition and I’m really happy to have won the selections by playing a character from one of my favorite movies. Crimson Peak is a masterpiece of Guillermo del Toro’s filmography and Mother Ghost, represents my ideal cosplay character: gloomy, with a beautiful story to tell and with an elaborate dress.
E: I chose Edith Cushing because Crimson Peak is one of my favourite movies, and as a joke I told my companion: ehy, why don’t we perform crimson peak on a stage? knowing very well that Artemide couldn’t say no! because she is deep in to “darkness theme” 😛
It was our first time cosplaying together and the first time at all for me to compete in such a big stage.

What does cosplay mean for you? And what is your favourite part of the hobby?

L: First of all it is the possibility of being able to become a different character each time, but the thing I love the most is my personal challenge in making the costume. I try to choose them more and more complicated each time!
C: Cosplay means first of all friendship for me. During these years, I met my best friends thanks to this hobby. But it is not only this: it represents an opportunity to put myself to the test and overcome challenges by creating what I love. My favorite part is certainly the performance on stage: the costume I created is no longer something static but is an integral part of a story.
E: I really enjoy everything about cosplay. Choosing the character, the fabrics, learning new techniques to bring the costumes to life; how to impress the audience with a entertaining performance. I see art in every single aspect of cosplay.

What do you expect from your visit to Spain? Is your first time visiting the country?

L: I was only once in the Balearics for a holiday, but I think it will be very different! I can’t wait to participate, because the event seems organized in a more relaxed and fun way than usual, and I’m sure it will be a good experience.
C: It is not the first time I visit Spain although, it has never happened to do so for cosplay. From this event I expect a lot of fun and above all, a great personal growth!
E: I were in Spain 3 times, 2 in Barcelona and one in Madrid and Toledo. I really love the country and it’s so similar to my land: Sardinia. And people are warm and partying such as italians :P.

Have you decided your project for the finals in Madrid? Can you give us a clue?

L: Yes, I have already decided on the costume, I’m working on it these days and I hope it comes at its best. Tthe only thing I can tell you about it … is that I decided to become a migthy pirate.
C: My partner Eleonora and I will play respectively Ravenna and Freya, the wicked queens described in the movie The Huntsman’s Winter Wars.
We were immediately struck not only by the beautiful dresses but above all, by the strong bond and character of these two sisters.
E: I almost forced Artemide to please me and bring these costumes for the finals! It was in my “next project” for a while, because of the dress complexity and the fun to play such an evil character (I usually like to cosplay cheerful characters so I really enjoy the challenge). The character is a queen, is really evil, and her dresses are freaking awesome! … i think that you can easily guess ;).

Describe the cosplay community in your country using five words.

L: Creativity, commitment, craftsmanship, competition … and many FB flames ^ _ ^
C: Competitive, creative, imaginative, innovative and elaborate.
E: haven’t big armour? can’t compete!! XD hahaha Joking! 😛 amazing handicraft, hard working, always experimenting

Where can we find your works?
