How did you discover cosplay and what made you start in this hobby? How long ago?

NoĆ©mieĀ :Ā By Corinne.Ā  Corinne and me have beginning cosplay with One Piece cosplay, it was our first cosplay together. Since weā€™ve decided to continue in this way and try to go on stages! I make cosplay since eight years ago.

Corinne :Ā I discovered the world of manga and cosplay thanks to my husband 12 years ago. I immediately fell in love with it, I always liked to dress up when I was little.

Why did you chooseĀ Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum from Alice in WonderlandĀ as your project for the ICL preselection? Is this your first time joining an international cosplay competition?

NoĆ©mieĀ :Ā It was for the pleasure of finally getting back on stage after the pandemic. Because, at the beginning, it was just for fun and then we ticked the ICL selection because we just wanted to help and make sure that there were more participants in the international selections because after the pandemic, few people register. We have proposed to the contest organizers to register us for the ICL. Then, we were selected! Now we are more motivated than ever!

We had already been selected for the #ICL2019. Yes, weā€™ve come againĀ šŸ˜

Corinne :Ā As NoĆ©mie summed it up very well, we wanted to come back on stage so much after the pandemic that we chose these two wacky characters and be able to guarantee to keep the selections for this contest.

We came 3 years ago for the #ICL2019. We are back !

What does cosplay mean for you? And what is your favorite part of the hobby?

NoĆ©mieĀ :Ā Research,Ā  create, learning news technicals, meeting people. My favorite part is going on stage for convey our joy and have some fun!

Corinne :Ā As a mom, cosplay allows me to have my own little moments and to be able to please my daughters by making lots of things for them. What I prefer is to learn new techniques each time, whether in crafting or sewing

If you werenā€™t selected before the pandemic, please let us know how did it affect to your cosplay projects and motivation and how you approached the selections.

NoĆ©mieĀ andĀ Corinne :Ā We were selected in April of this year, so after the pandemic. We are very motivated. The characters we are going to present are two characters that we have wanted to cosplay for a while now! So we took the opportunity to present them at the ICL.

What do you expect from your visit to Spain? Is this your first time visiting the country?

NoĆ©mieĀ :Ā I came for the ICL in 2019 and in June of this year to Madrid Urban Sports to support my boyfriend who did a scooter contest. I expect to meet some lovely and kind people ā™„ļø

Corinne :Ā It will be the second time that I will come to Spain, the first being in 2019 also for the ICL. I think what I look forward to most is meeting amazing new people and making the most of every moment.

Have you decided your project for the finals in Madrid? Can you give us a clue?

NoĆ©mieĀ :Ā Yes, for sure ! Do you know Cinderella ?Ā Ā šŸ˜

SOLO

Hi! Ā”Hola! Iā€™mĀ Nehrylka, the Switzerland solo representative. Iā€™m 38 years old. I was born and grew up in France but I moved to Switzerland when I was 20, and since few years I became a watchmaker (soooo original no? ^^). But my ultimate professional dream would have been to be a volcanologist, so now Iā€™m a unconditional fan of Iceland.

How did you discover cosplay and what made you start in this hobby? How long ago?

I discovered cosplay while going to our local convention, Polymanga, (by the way where I was selected this year for ICL !) and I decided to start this wonderful hobby when I was part of a lightsaber fighting school. It was almost 6 years ago !

Why did you choose Tyrande Master as your project for the ICL preselection? Is this your first time joining an international cosplay competition?

I have chosen Tyrande because it was such a dream to achieve a big Blizzard armor one day in my life. And Tyrande is such a character with a incredible background, powerfull but also full of love, passion, and also because Iā€™m in love with elves ^^ Itā€™s my really first time joining an international competition !

Ā What does cosplay mean for you? And what is your favorite part of the hobby?

For me cosplay mean imagination, but also joy and friendship. I love so much to put dream lights in the eyes of people who find themselves facing their favorite character in real life ! But also I love to take time with my friends to just enjoy being our heroes. My favorite part I think is really splited between the love of creating something with my hands and to share passion with people I love.

If you werenā€™t selected before the pandemic, please let us know how did it affect to your cosplay projects and motivation and how you approached the selections.

I was selected this spring so at the end of the biggest pandemic period. To be honest, during the pandemic my frustration was really high, I always had those questions in mind ā€œWhatā€™s the point?ā€, ā€œis it useful to continue?ā€ and I procrastinated a lotā€¦ And when I saw that life and reality came back, the selection was approching fast, so I felt in rushā€¦ Getting back to cosplayerā€™s nomal life I guess!!

What do you expect from your visit to Spain? Is this your first time visiting the country?

Itā€™s not my first time in Spain but I came here 20 years ago with my school. So itā€™s like I never visited it before I think haha! So I expect to discover a little bit of your wonderful country, and also some culinary specialties, but also mainly to meet the Spanish cosplay community and the other contestants !!!

Have you decided your project for the finals in Madrid? Can you give us a clue?

For the final I had to make the choice to keep my selection costume. Why? Because I have been selected in April but I had also to deal with evening school for my job, and with an hard sport project this summer. So, instead of preparing a new but simple project insufficiently high level for this kind of event I decided to keep my initial cosplay.
